March 7, 1876 - Alexander Graham Bell receives a patent for the telephone. The patent includes not just the actual instrument, but Bell's ideas for a telephone system.

March 7, 1897 - The first people to taste cornflakes are patients in a hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. Their doctor? John Kellogg.

March 7, 1911 - Willis Farnsworth receives a patent for a coin-operated locker.
